Stephanie Marrus

Managing Director, Entrepreneurship, University of California San Francisco

Stephanie Marrus is managing director of entrepreneurship at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), the leading science and medical graduate university in the United States, sister school to University of California Berkeley. She is a Silicon Valley life science/healthcare startup expert who has helped start numerous companies. A key node in the Silicon Valley entrepreneurship ecosystem, she has a deep network among life science investors, serial entrepreneurs, accelerators, founders, attorneys and consultants. She leads a global virtual entrepreneurship course, “Entrepreneurship for Life Science/Healthcare Startups:  Master Class Direct from Silicon Valley”, which has reached six continents and 27 countries since 2020.

She is affiliated with entrepreneurship programs at UC Berkeley and Stanford as well as programs in Europe, Asia and the Americas. She works with the U.S. State Department, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).  Her entrepreneurship policy recommendations have been reviewed at the White House.

Prior to joining UCSF, she held c-suite business roles in biotechnology companies. She has been CEO, COO and VP of corporate development for public and private firms, led partnering and M&A transactions, headed corporate development, strategy, marketing and communications.

She holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MA from Columbia University.
